Drone startup Droni Tech raises ₹3.5 crores in seed funding

Mumbai-based drone startup Droni Tech has raised ₹3.5 crores ($500,000) in its first seed funding round from Eagle Group and other angel investors.

The funds raised will be used to drive research and development in Mumbai and the US, along with boosting growth through sales and marketing.

The funding comes soon after the Indian government announced India’s first drone policy. The new drone policy is focused on ensuring that no security threats are posed due to the drones.

Droni Tech, a sub-brand of the parent company Drovation Software Solutions Pvt Ltd, was founded by Onkar Bhosle, Chirag Patel, Rohit Shirke, and Anisha Bhosle in March 2018. It manufactures artificially intelligent high-quality drones and corporate drone management software. It also offers drone hardware products for various purposes including agriculture, medical emergency, food and supplies along with surveillance.

Onkar Bhosle, Co-Founder of Droni Tech, said, “Our vision is for drones to manage agriculture farms and other applications on their own, better than humans. Right now, each data point of flying drones is transmitted on dashboard in real-time. In phase-III of our product, we would enter the exciting phase of automated decision-making by the machine.”

The startup has a number of clients including Renault, Toshiba, TAJ, Grand Hyatt, Government of Meghalaya, among others.

Droni Tech’s investor Eagle Group own Eagle Security and Personal Services (ESPS), it provides a platform for manned security services in India. Incorporated in 1980 with a client base of over 500 customers, ESPS offers services across the country.

Droni Tech’s drone will help ESPS to further strengthen its security platform.
